A 76-year-old man accused of defiling a 15-year-old granddaughter has been committed to the high court to start battling aggravated defilement charges.
Edward Masaba, a resident of Kyabazala in Mukono District has been committed by Mukono court grade 1 magistrate Patience Kabarunga acting on the DPP orders. Prosecution states that the 76-year-old defiled his granddaughter on the 3rd of March, 2020 at Kyabazala in Mukono District. Court also learned that the parents of the victim were Masaba’s neighbors.
Relatedly, a 13-year-old boy has been charged and further remanded to Naguru Remand Home by Mukono magistrate court for allegedly defiling two girls aged 8 and 6 years respectively.
The juvenile offender has appeared before the same Grade 1 magistrate Patience Kabarunga who did not allow him to say anything on the capital offence which is only triable and bailable by the high court.
Prosecution led by Agnes Kiconco states that the juvenile offender between March and May 2020 at Kiwanyi village, Nakisunga in Mukono District defiled an 8year old girl. She states that the accused also between the same period, performed the same sexual act with a 6 year old neighbor’s daughter.
Meanwhile, the director of Public Prosecution James Francis Abodo has ordered the trial of this boy before the high court upon the completion of police investigations. The juvenile is ordered to stay on remand until the next convenient session of the high court.
