A 27year old man has survived being leashed by angry residents of Bupendi village in Nawaikoke rural subcounty, Kaliro District for allegedly defiling 7-year-old girl.


The suspect was caught red-handed by the area LC1 chairman Martin Kabutanya who arrived on time. Kabutanya says the suspect ran into a sugarcane plantation after defiling the minor but was hooked out by the residents who had started beating him up. The chairman says the suspect has been handed over to the police for punishment.

Relatedly the police in Kabale are investigating circumstances under which a 50-year-old business man was shot dead at his residence.

The Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Matte says while one Silver Turyahikayo aged fifty years from Mirama Hill Ntugamo District was attacked by unknown assailants riding on a yet to be identified motorcycle who shot at him three times in the stomach at Kisasi village in Kabale District.
The victim died before officers from Katuna Police Station made it to the scene after alarm calls from some of the locals. His body has been taken to Rushorooza Health Center 4 for post mortem as investigations into the matter continue.
