Experts ready to dig deep into Makerere University fire


A committee of experts has been put in place to investigate the Makerere University Ivory Tower infernal pending the risk assessment report by KCCA Engineers.


Police spokesman Fred Enanga says that the team comprises of police investigators and building experts. However, he says while addressing journalists at the media center ra team of KCCA engineers are yet to submit their risk assessment report which will guide if the team of experts can easily access the building.

“We have a panel in place which comprises of experts from the Uganda Construction Review Board, the UMEME Offices, forensic experts from police then those from Government Analytical Laboratory.


They have not started combing the scenes for different forms of residue and evidence simply because engineers from KCCA have not completed the risk assessment of the burnt structure.

Remember, this is an old structure and before you into now thoroughly combing this scene you really need to be sure that some of the burnt structures shall not bury the teams that are documenting and analyzing the scene.”
