Tension is high at Masaka District Headquarters after four officials tested positive for covid19. According to the Masaka regional referral hospital Director, Dr. Nathan Oryachi the group has been admitted at Masaka Covid 19 treatment centre.

This follows yesterday’s police public report in which one suspect detained at Kawempe Police Station also tested positive for covid19. The detainee is a male juvenile, 15 from Bwaise village and had been arrested on allegations of defilement of a 3-year-old.
In accordance with the Nabweru Court ruling, the juvenile had been remanded to juvenile remand home in Naguru where a covid19 negative certificate is required before admission. Consequently, the Police had to take the juvenile for testing and the results turned out to be positive.
The juvenile is yet to be transferred to Entebbe Grade B hospital for treatment and samples of the rest of the staff have been taken and necessary procedures will be followed.
As of yesterday, 9th of September Uganda has accumulated a total of 4101 covid19 cases with 46 fatalities. The Ministry of Health says so far, 1876 recoveries have been registered.
