Loosing National ID can drown ones hopes of signing that Next big deal, process that other document that’s been giving you sleepless nights or complete that pending Transaction. That’s how important National ID is today.
But what’s happens if NIRA returns your ID with Errors and it gets lost before you correct them;- It’s Double Tragedy (literally)
MR.FIXER’S OBSERVATIONS: Am noticing a recurring behaviour in most of the inquiries I receive relating to this scenario. People have attendency upon receiving the ID with errors, to just wait it out.
Most hold the thought that they will do the corrections after the card expires, but we should be cognisant of the fact that not everyone is born a Keeper, it’s only a matter of time before they loose whatever they have in their possession. And we end up with A lost card possessing Errors ie Misspelled Names, Date of birth, sex or any other particulars..
HOW DO YOU HANDLE LOST ID WITH ERRORS WHEN REPLACING AT NIRA?
Unlike normal Replacement where all applicants Details are correct, Lost ID with Errors have a totally different approach to replacement and You risk never getting back the ID if you don’t follow NIRA’s Established procedures to sorting the National ID issue.
- You need to do Normal Replacement using the same information as it was on the card. That means including the errors it had because that’s what is on NIRS’s database.
- Upon receiving your Replacement with which (obviously) will still have the errors, you can now initiate The Error/Change of Particulars Process.
Note: You can’t Correct Errors or change Details when replacing the card. The two processes are independent of each other needing different documents to company Each. Some holds for those without Physical cards.
WHAT’S THE PENALTY IF YOU ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT ERROR WHILE REPLACING LOST ID CARD.
Incase you are wondering, NIRA won’t send Redtops kicking your door to arrest you are anything. The system will do all this virtually. People who’ve attempted this haven’t been successful at getting their National ID replace, years down the road.
Below is an example of an inquiry through my WhatsApp line corresponding to that fact. A one Atukunda’s card Returned with Name misspelled as “Aturinda”, she did replacement using her correct name “Atukunda”. as it stands, today 17th June, 2020 I received her inquiry, she hadn’t yet received her replacement..4 years down the road.
The reason I decided to write this article so anyone anyone who changes to do this doesn’t make the same mistake. Because at Kololo, the system now sees two Records with same finger print, an anomaly that books you into a “STOP LIST”. Meaning until clarifications are made, the ID can’t be processed. The sad part is, unless I make the initiative to find out, NIRA will not call to inform you that you messed up.
